Yes, it is separate. I really liked it the other day when I was sewing and didn't want to have to unthread the machine to fill bobbins. It is a very handy little gadget.

Someone said they were having difficulty getting the bobbins to fill evenly. I have not had that problem.

Stopped at Joann's this afternoon after I met quiltsbe (Nancy) for lunch! I asked them about the bobbin winder... they had some the gal said and sold out in 3 weeks!! Then I stopped at the LQS and they had some there. I don't know if I can justify paying $30 for one... but I put it on my wish list for Christmas. Now I just have to give my kids directions to get to the Quilt Shop!!

I discovered this Sidewinder is great for winding kids down too! I was keeping my two young nephews (double trouble) and they spent most of the afternoon winding bobbins. I don't have an empty bobbin in the house. The boys thought it was the neatest thing ever. LOL.

Has anyone found out about the green Husqvarna Viking bobbins working on this new little toy?

I just ordered one of these from QIAD. It is so irritating to run out of bobbin thread in the middle of or finishing up a project. Can't wait to get it. Sounds like everyone likes it so far.

I found this list of bobbins that it does not work with on Nancy's Notions website. Husqvarna Viking: Designer SE, Designer I, Quilt Designer II, Quilt Designer, Platinum, Interlude, Rose, Prelude, Daisy, Orchidea, #1, Prisma, Optima, Classica, Huskylock. Singer: Centaur II, Futura

Again, I found this list at Nancy's Notions.

Not a problem that it won't work for my Viking bobbins. We don't have to unthread our machines to wind our bobbins so it's not such a big deal. Besides, that give me $$$$ I can spend on fabic instead of a toy.

I have more than one machine so I didn't need this to wind extra bobbins but that would be just getting the job done with no fun involved. This little machine is adds a little fun and gets the job done.
