sewbug, how do you get the chalk off the fabric after you've done the quilting? Do you always wash your quilts, or is there another way to get it off?

I use a fingernail cleaning brush and the chalk brushes off, not instantly but it does brush off.

Sewbug - the colored chalk sounds very useful. Went to the site, ordered the set.
Thanks.

Thanks for the tip, sewbug! I would never have thought of the possibilty of using a fingernail cleaning brush... That's what's so great about this forum, there's always something new to learn!

Thanks for the tip! I recently bought three different marking products to use on black fabric. They all show up well, but I like the Clover pen the best. I've only tested for visibility so far, not removability (sp?). The Clover pen makes a very fine line. Gonna use it on my big ol' bargello as soon as we get settled in from moving.

If you use cold water on the Clover water soluble marks, they come out even better. I learned this in a class a few months ago.

I have one of the Clover white marking pens but right out of the package it won't mark. It must be dried up?

sewbug, the marks don't really show immediately. It takes some 10 to 30 seconds, maybe even a minute, before they show up. If they don't show then, I'm guessing your pen may be dry or something.

My friend uses the blue marking pen all the time and doesn't have any trouble.

A tip that I heard not too long ago.........use an eyebrow sharpener for your pens, not the one they sell you........as the eyebrow sharpener will not break the 'lead' in your chaulk pencils.

Sewbug I have the Chalk & Cartridges and I love them. I have also removed the chalk using a pc. of batting like an eraser.
