Most definitely the Janome. They have all different ones, from the basic up to the ultra fancy embroidery machines (yes, I have both). But, like others have posted, make sure you go to a store with lots of customer support and classes.

Just a note from Mom - Kyna got a new Pfaff Expression 2.0. She is in love with it - it came with a bunch of extra feet and was on sale. Mom always knew best - I am a Pfaff person and now so is she! Thanks for all the input - it helps alot

Re: New Machine?
I don't have any idea where LaLa Land is but if you are near any State Fairs sometimes different dealers set up shop and do wonderful demonstrations and in my case I purchased my first Bernina 930 from the dealer at the fair in 1985 at a great price. However, I was promised but didn't get any classes. I recently bought a very expensive Bernina Artista Embroidery machine and after spending more time with my nose in the book and a year of "free" classes it sits on the shelf. My advise, if I may give it is to first decide exactly what you want to do with the machine Then DO NOT listen to your husband and the salesman.

Definitely a Janome. They are for the most part trouble free. BUT, that being said, be sure you have a good dealer support if you need anything etc. The Janome comes with lots of various feet an many different stitches. Check them all out. Marge

Love my Sapphire 870 (2 years old). Only difference between the 830, 850 and 870 is the number of extra stitches. I think the new numbers are 835, 855, 875.
