I also love the walking foot. What a difference when working with layers. They do not move and end up crinkling the top layer. Just have to use it!

my walking foot worked great for making a canvas 'frock' coat for pioneer camping.

I sew with mine more on than off. But, it is a newer model of the Bernina. I am not sure if the older models would have a walking foot that works as good. Try it at the store if they have the models. Probably not available. This might be a good reason for you to hmm...get a new machine.

Love mine! Can't do a binding without that sucker.

I purchased one for an old Singer, one for my Featherweight Singer and one came with my new Baby Lock Quilters Choice. It did not work all that well with my Featherweight because, for whatever reason, it kept vibrating loose and you can only tighten the screw so much. It worked fine on my old Touch & Sew Singer and works great on my Baby Lock. My only complaint is that I have a hard time seeing what I'm doing when using it for piecing so I never use it for this purpose. As far as the functionality though it works great and top and bottom of piece you're working on remain smooth.

I probably use my walking foot more than any other foot. It works great, and keeps the layers together better.

Why do you hate yours? Did it come with your machine?

When I am sewing multiple layers like sewing binding onto the back of a quilt, I always use my walking foot. For my Bernina that darn thing was not cheap either. LOL But it is worth it.
