Great idea to put the batteries in for balance. I always use it plugged in and never thought to put the batteries in for weight. I use mine only when I have to -- not real happy with the way it winds bobbins.

The one I have does not seem to wrap the thread as my singer sewing machine does so it does not do well in sewing. I never use it anymore.

I purchased the Sidewinder several years ago and found out it doesn't work on my Viking. However, it is great for my Featherweight. I use the AC adapter. Thanks for the idea of how to keep larger spools from spinning off!

I just saw an ad in a magazine for a second generation bobbin winder for all machines - including the Vikings - I would look for that one - I love mine - I use is with my LA to keep my bobbins full

I have the Sidewinder and I don't care much for it. It doesn't seem to get the bobbins full.
