Rotary Cutter Holders...really cheap

Post by TooMuchFabric » Fri Aug 08, 2008 1:09 pm

I went to the large chain discount store today and there were lots of school supples. They had pencil holders for 50 cents. I bought a couple and they are a perfect fit for my rotary cutters.

Last year someone had talked about the scissors in the school supply section and I had bought some for cutting threads at the sewing machine and they are wonderful to have handy.

WalMart has the plastic school boxes that are great for storing all kinds of notions. I have one full of binding clips, one for safety pins, one for marking pencils, the prices are fantastic now. I stocked up on binders for my print outs which the pile seems to grow every day.

Good ideas. Will look for the pencil holders and plastic school boxes. I have a lot of notions...some are not used that often.

I use the plastic school boxes from Walmart to carry my supplies/notions for classes. They will hold cutter, small scissors, needles, unsewer, 6" ruler. Just all kinds of stuff.

For those of you who are into leather...you can find leather pockets at hardware stores. I have one that's maybe 8 inches long, clips onto your waistband. Perfect place to stash your cutter, and IF you leave the blade open, it protects you from being cut.

I made a quilted (padded) pocket for my rotary cutter. I embroidered my name on it as well. That way when I go to classes, mine is distinct. I also use a plastic box for my notions for classes. I have my name on it (as well as all large items) using address labels. I have had a few things misplaced at classes and have always had them returned. When I have to take my "good" shears, I tie a ribbon to them - again so they are distinct. Something else that I have included in my class notion box is a very small first aid kit. I have a habit of pricking myself with machine needles when I have to change them out. It is very handy to have a small bandage to keep me from damaging my fabrics.
