I have an Omigrid 6"X24" ruler. I have had this ruler for a couple of years and have used it for many quilts. My question to you, do I need to replace it once in a while? I ask this because it looks like it is getting hollowed out in the area I use the most. Kind of like a tiny dip in the plastic edge. Is this normal? Anything I can do to prevent this with future rulers? I have several different size rulers, but this is my favorite. I use an Olfa rotary cutter most of the time, but I also have a Friskars. My mat is a June Taylor. Thanks for any suggestions on this.

Re: rotary ruler
Winona, if you can see a hollowed out place then you should get another ruler. I like El's rulers. I put Invisi-Grip on the back of my rulers to keep them from slipping. I use a Martelli Ergo2000 rotary cutter which I adore. Precise cutting means you at least start a quilt with accuracy - LOL. Sometimes my accuracy goes down hill on down the line.

Re: rotary ruler
I would replace it. It's a small price compared to all the work it does for you. I wash my rulers every so often. It's amazing how dirty they become and I don't even realize it. Like the tv screen when I remember to clean it! LOL
