great idea for use of rubberized square on your ironing board cover

Post by ollie1shoe » Sun Jul 20, 2008 3:30 pm

if you are like me when i had to replace the cover on my ironing board the only one i could fine that fit my older ironing board had a i think they called it a teflon protector ( it looks like a rubberized material) for you to sit your iron on well it was just in the way i never used it so i found a GREAT use for it my quilting friend terri had took the stitches that were holding it to the cover and removed it from hers we had the same covers she hated hers also it is the greatest thing to put under your foot pedal no more slipping pedal while you sew and it looks like thats what it was made for

Good idea. I have carpet in my sewing room so I bought the extra heavy duty velco and put a strip of the hook part on the bottom of my foot pedal in two places. It grabs the carpet and doesn't move at all. I have to pry it up to move it.

I have not seen what you are talking about, Glenda, but I sure will LOOK!! I have tried so many things to keep my pedal in place and none work very well. I insisted on NOT having carpet in my new sewing room, so can't try sewbug's trick of velcro.

I use that rubbery contact paper stuff, the stuff that come in a roll and feels like rubber-to put under my foot pedal. I have it under my cutting mat and under my Big Board. Amie :o)

I put an old mouse pad under my foot pedal, it doesn't move at all.

These are great tips though, thanks for sharing.
