I am just getting into applique and I absolutely have found my nitch in the quilting world. I Love it.
I am trying several fusibles and am using Eleanor's technique.
What fusible do you all recommend and why?
SewSew, if you read this, what do you use?
I'm not sure on the "weight" I want to be using.
Thanks for your answers.
Please note that we will be doing maintenance on this server on Sunday 1/25. It will be back up by the end of the day

Becky - hello. I like El's method of applique the best. I try to find and use the thinnest interfacing possible. The thinner the interfacing, the less bulk/stiffness/weight the finished product has.

For Eleanor's applique method, use light-weight, non woven fusible.
You don't want your applique pieces to be bulky and using light weight fusible helps you accomplish this.

Thanks, Linda.
I have been using a lightweight and a little heavier trying to decide which I like better to work with.
But if El uses the light weight, I guess I better, too!! LOL!

I decided the best thing to do would be to order it from QIAD! That way I'd surely be getting the weight Eleanor recommends. It is gridded, however, and I'm wondering how that will be on light fabrics. I'll just have to give it a try! Whenever possible, I'll use the ones QIAD offers that are pre-printed on the interfacing.

Sorry, Becky, I have been a little under the weather all week and I haven't been posting much lately so I had not read your question.
Linda said it all. I use a light weight non-woven fusible, it gives you the stability without the bulk. I also make sure I trim the seam and when turning be careful not to poke your bodkin through the seams. If you are poking through the seam then you are trimming too close.
I am glad that you have discovered the joy of applique. I always say that it is what I like to do best and people do not understand why. To me there is more freedom and mistakes never look like mistakes. I remember I clipped my fabric once when triming threads, so I just added an extra leaf to my design and no one was the wiser. Have fun.

Thanks all.
I have been working more with the light weight now and finding it is easier.
Thanks for the tip on cutting too close. I was having a problem with that, SewSew. Always pushing through the seam. Lots to learn but loving every minute of it.
