I have a stitch in the ditch foot, but prefer to use my walking foot to eliminate the backing from "bunching up". I do like the stitch in the ditch foot though, but wish they could put it on the walking foot somehow. Ha Ha

One thing I love about my Janome 6600P is that it has a built in walking foot and I can use it with the stitch-in-the-ditch foot. It worked great.

And now for the laugh of the day.. I just saw the picture that Suellen posted and immediately went to my Baby Lock and checked my "feet". Yes, I have a ditch foot but had never used it. I think when I bought my machine they called it a top stitching foot.It was one of the extras that we bought. My husband was big oon me having all those extra fee (which I seldom use). I don't like to stop and change. Understand this, I am not stupid, just old.LOL Happy quilting!

Given name for this foot is the 'joiner' foot. It was made so you could put a piece of fabric on one side & a piece of lace on the other & zigzag them together. Or 2 different pieces of fabric, etc. If anyone is trying to find this foot & the dealers look at you funny, just ask for a joiner foot. I am lucky because I have a Pfaff with the IDT or 'walking' foot built in so don't need to attach a walking foot. :) S

I watched a Martha Pullen show Sat. and she called this a joining foot and said it was being used as a sew in the ditch foot by quilters. Aren't quilters cleaver? LOL

Hi Girls, I am new to this community. Love El's patterns and DVDs. I have always admired the traditional quilt blocks. I have recently purchased a Janome 6600 and love how it works. Love the 1/4 foot. I have heard about the stitch in the ditch foot also but does this foot come with the accessory kit or is this a foot that has to be ordered extra? I have been following your discussions and have learned a lot here already. Thanks loads for all your experience and your willingness to share it. Gemma

I just bought a Janome 6600 and you can buy a stitch in the ditch foot to use with your walking foot. I purchased it, but have not tried it yet.

I am learning a lot from your discussions fellow quilters. I have a stupid question. I have a Bernina, and I understand that I can now purchase a free motion foot that will keep your stitches even. Forgive me, but if I am moving my material myself, how can this foot keep my stitches even? I am too embarrassed to ask this at the Bernina dealer. Can you help?

Dottikins - I think you mean a stitch regulator.
