New way of mitering binding without having to cut bias on 45 degree angle

I think this is the Amish way.
Cut your peaces of binding on straight of grain cut four peaces one for each side making them at least 10 inches longer than each corner.
Sew each binding to your l/4 inch mark stop and reinforce corner at l/4 inch.
Like in Eleanors book Quilting Through the seasons on page 227 line up on the 45% angle and cut outward to form l/2 of a V.
Then sew from the top of the V on another 45% angle back down the other side of the binding to complete the V. Make sure that you have more material on the back of the V to turn under and then stitch in the ditch on the front of the quilt.
Make sure when you sew the bindings together into the V that the two right sides are together.
