Border on tied quilt

I'm tying a Christmas lap quilt 45x70 that will have a double border. I'd like suggestions on what to do to finish the boder- tie, stitch in the ditch or what?
FYI, I used four sets of charm squares and did a disappearing nine-patch. It makes a great looking, fairly simple and reasonably quick design.

I'VE NEVER TIED, BUT I THINK.... STITCH IN THE DITCH WOULD LOOK GOOD WITH A TIED QUILT TOP.

I think I would SITD and then tie it,too. I've tied before and it has held up wonderfully, for about 5 years. Many, many washes. I'm going to tie 2 of my tops made with chenille, I'm going for the shabby chic look. Amie

I agree! My mom always ties her quilts. She does stitch in the ditch around the border. Looks great and they have held up just fine.

After all of the tieing, are you sewing a binding on? Somehow the ability of putting a simple binding on the quilt, seems to frame it.Maybe that is just how I look at it. I have tied many quilts. I use the colors that the quilt material has, and I hardly see the tie now. Have fun doing it.
