Halloween trick or treat bag

My nephew asked me to make him a bag for trick or treating. Of course I said yes. Does anyone have any ideas? I was thinking of just sewing it like a pillowcase, but what could I do for the top, such as something to close it and open it. I hope this makes sense. I know what I am trying to say, hope you all can understand what I'm trying to say. Thanks for any ideas!

I would make it like a pillowcase and use a draw string in it for the handle, makes it easy to carry and he won't lose his candy!!

If the drawstring is removable, he can use it after Halloween for his pillowcase!

I got a JoAnn fabric ad in the mail this week and they had a really cute pumpkin bag on one of their pages....I wonder if you went to their website if you could maybe see the picture in the ad, or maybe they have the pattern available. You might try it.

Yes, it is. I read through the directions so it says to use felt and glue or use heat and bond....I think I would sew the seams instead of fusing them....would be alot stronger. The felt is cute, but you could make it with orange cotton and then just glue the felt face of the pumpkin on the front. Lots of ways to make it sturdier than just the bonding they recommend.

Why not just make a pillowcase. That way he can enjoy it all year long. Use Halloween fabric in fun designs.
Lots of kids around here just use plain pillowcases.
One year my son wanted something and I had a black fq with quarter moons on it. I just folded it and sewed around two edges then gave it a wide hem with an opening and threaded a black cord like you use for curtains through it. He was happy with it.

I agree with making a pillowcase with a drawstring. Remove the drawstring after Halloween and he can enjoy it all year. I made these for our 1st grandson sev. yrs. He loved them.

I saw something cute on Martha Stewart this week. One of her craft designers took a t shirt & stitched the bottom, cut the neckline off & then the sleves, it was a great bag. It was a "green" idea but certainly can be done with a halloween t shirt or a plain t shirt that you can decorate however you would like.
