Re: flying geese
Hi Nancy,
I'm just up the hill from ya in Woodland Park! How 'bout that? I love El's technique for making flying geese units with her rulers. If that's what you're looking for, she has it in some of her books. If you don't have any of her books yet, I did find a 'free' lesson on the HGTV site in her "Peony" pattern here:
http://images.scrippsweb.com/HGTV/2006/ ... _Peony.pdf
I have her flying geese rulers now, and won't go back to the 'other' way, ever. Perfect geese units, every time! Hope this helps.
Happy quilting,

Re: flying geese
Hi Nancy, Quilt in a Day has a video for the flying geese ruler! It's at:
http://www.quiltinaday.com/television/default.asp
Or just click at the top where it says "Television and Video"! Get something to drink, make yourself comfortable and enjoy. Takes about 11 1/2 minutes to watch, but it's well worth it. You know what they say, "a picture is worth a thousand words." Well, a video is worth a lot more.
They plan on adding, like the triangle in a square ruler. Can't wait.
Also, have you tried QuiltersNewsNetwork.com or QuiltersTV.com for videos?

Re: flying geese
I love Eleanor's method of making flying geese. Given a choice, I won't make them any other way. The instructions which come with th ruler are very good and straight forward. You make 4 at a time.
Back at the first of the year I knocked out 144 3 x 6 geese over the weekend and had 12 of my quilt blocks finished. I was making 12 Louisiana blocks (4 geese) and 12 Flying Dutchman (8 geese).
Right now I'm making what seems to be hundreds of them for a flying geese quilt. I haven't decided how big to make the quilt, so I don't know how many I'll need.

Here is a free online video, you have to join the free member group, to see Ricky Timms method of one line sewing for flying geese. It's pretty amazing.
It's episode 107.

Re: flying geese
Eleanor sure does! you can make 4 flying geese at a time!!! It's wonderful. I have taught this technique at guild several times and it is always a hit. By the end of the evening you have several geese made and can then make them into a block!
