Diamond sizes

Post by stormy » Fri Aug 17, 2007 3:19 pm

I'm having a brain lapse and can't seem to figure out diamond sizes. When a pattern calls for a 2 1/2 inch diamond, how is it being measured. I read and re-read the info and still don't quite get the measurements. Sometimes I wonder how I ever held a job where I needed to use common sense. LOL Will appreciate some help? Thanks, Stormy

A diamond is measured by the width of the diamond between the two long edges.

Hi, To make 2 1/2 in diamonds, cut your strip that width then, put your ruler on the strip at a 45* angle and cut 2 1/2 in apart. Of coarse the first diamond you will cut off the waste on the end. Hope this makes sense. Marge

Got it! I was starting the first cut at the wrong angle. Changed rulers and solved the problem. Thanks calicopuzzle and mic-pa.
