What did I do wrong?

Ladies I need some help. I'm doing Magic Vine quilt the lap size on point blocks. I made my flowers and leaves, no problem. I cut out my back ground fabric 7 1/2" x 7 1/2" as per the instructions. I sewed my flower stems on with no problem. I ironed my flower and leaves on also with no problems. After I appliqued the flower and leaves, I did also use stablizer on the back. So the problem that I have is my block is no longer square and I don't see where El has us to square up the finished square to another size. Please help...

I hate to tell you this. When you applique, you need to cut the block larger and square it up afterwards. Maybe you can just put borders around your blocks and then square up. I'm sure it will turn out nice anyway, Amie

Why is that? What does the applique do? I haven't run into this, but all of my applique work thus far has bee wall hangings and when I go to do a pieced/appique I think I may have trouble, since my blocks rarely come out the size they are supposed to.

Never fear Missmarcia.....Quilterbee has the right idea. If you add borders and then square it up it will be fine. Quilting can cover up those lines pretty good. I have found that almost any mistake can be fixed in a quilt. I used to worry so much, but have had to fix several things after the fact, and everything turned out fine.
