Photo quilt

Post by quiltingangel » Thu Jul 12, 2007 9:33 am

Hello Friends, I made my daughter and son-in-law a photo quilt for Christmas a couple of years ago. I included pictures of my grandchildren's significant others and now they are no longer dating. Is there anyway to replace these 2 pictures without destroying the whole project? Thanks for any help!

Quiltingangel,
Which method did you use for your photo Prints?

Hi Quiltingangel,

Depending on how you constructed your block, you might consider gently ripping the seams around this picture, pulling out the picture and either replacing it with another picture or using that space for a non picture fabric. I can imagine that you would have to do a little reverse sewing of the border piece to the new picture. By that, I mean folding a 1/4" or whatever your seam allowance is under on the border fabric, on top of your picture, then maybe consider using a fusible hem tape to get it to adhere nicely, then top stitch in a manner that would best fit in with the rest of the quilt.

I really don't know if this would be satisfactory to you, as well, there may even be a better way to do this. Best of luck to you!

Quilty regards,
