I have been quilting a quilt with my standard home machine and have been using my free motion foot to sew a pattern and also to do in-the-ditch quilting on the quilt. I decided to kick off my shoes and give my foot a try at controlling the pedal without the hard sole of my shoe....can't believe how much more relaxing it is for my foot as well as how much more control my foot has on the pedal without the shoe. You need to try this!! My DH reminded me that when he had laser surgery on his eye several years ago, his opthamologist kicked his shoe off and controlled the laser beam machine pedal with his foot!! There may be something to this. LOL

I am always barefoot when I sew on my machine.
If I wear shoes, I put the pedal to the metal. LOL

I've been sewing barefoot or in socks for over 30 years... It's the only way to go,
