applique by hand

Post by naniyosie » Mon Jun 11, 2007 3:53 pm

does anyone applique by hand?
I usually applique by hand when I'm at my bee and my quilt guild, and at night while we're watching tv.
During the day, I'll sew on my machine....and even machine applique.

We must be twins...I usually sew on my machine during the day...then at night , while watching TV,I will do my hand work. I like to applique my sun bonnets by hand. I will also do some GFG pieces for a change...

I appliqued an entire double bed side Sunbonnet Sue for my niece WHILE I WAS AT WORK! Had some down time, can you tell? Not sure my hand could deal with so much applique now.

I really enjoy applique by hand. It's the preparation I hate.

I like to hand applique. I can't seem to find the time to prepare any to work on. It's a 'someday' project. I bought El's Applique in a Day book so maybe I just need to stop and prepare something, huh?

Yes, I also love to hand applique. GP and I are doing Els Applique in a Day quilt and it will be just beautiful, I hope! GP is doing all the hard part and I am getting to do the hand work! I have also done a lot of "primitive" or country type applique, using a variety of fabrics, one of which is felt. Felt is so simple as it does not have a raw edge to be turned under. Els fusible interfacing is great!! I am wanting to start a crazy quilt and put many different stitches on it. Like to hear comments on crazy quilting.....
