machine quilting

Post by newquiltfan » Sun Jan 18, 2015 10:39 am

I have a hoop with the fabric in it and not sure which way to lay it under the motion foot. Should the flat side go on the bottom or top. Also, approximately how long should the stitch be? Thanks

Flat against the bottom. If you're using free motion, the stitch length is determined by how fast you move the hoop. Hope this helps.

I lower feed dogs, and use my darning foot (open circle foot) to quilt small quilts.. on a basic Janome 100.

From what I understand you must have a bigger machine, to use the hoop. Is it embroidery?
