Sooooooo Excited

Post by newbie61 » Sun Jul 29, 2012 3:35 pm

I am new to quilting and don't have any friends who quilt, and I HAVE to tell someone. I just finished my first quilt top where all the corners match.

I have gotten them close before, but not quite matching. I've watched so many of Eleanor's videos I'm getting cross eyed, but I've learned so much.

Congratulations! That is a great feeling, isn't it? Please post a pic in the photos, or fee free to join in the daily sew-in thread. There will be a whole group of quilters there ready to cheer with you.

Congratulations! I am so happy for you! I remember when my friend and I made our first quilt we had all the blocks made and then we didn't know what to do after that. We had to call one of the ladies from our quilt guild and she talked us throught it. It was pretty funny. I know your on your way now!!

Not sure how to upload a pic yet, but will work on it.

I've come up with a couple of ideas about the quilting and done sketches of them. They looked great on paper, but my talent at free motion is not yet up to the task. I am going to do stitch in the ditch on this one.

One question: Do I start the quilting on the edges or in the center?

Hi! Welcome to you!!! I know how excited you are!!! My DD has the first small quilt I made. I usually begin quilting in the center and work out to the edges... Be sure to either pin baste or thread baste by hand to get a good "sandwich" before you begin quilting. El's videos are great, aren't they!!!

Hope you drop in to the sew-ins! Also--once you figure out the first picture download, they do get easier... Good luck there!!!
