kissing the seams ??????

Maybe it is like El does when she locks the seam together - that is makes them meet very nicely by pushing the seams in opposite directions at the intersection so they make a sharp corner. You can achieve this by pressing the block pieces opposite of each other - El shows this quite often in her videos that are online. It works really well and your blocks will lay very flat and nice.

Other than that, maybe you kiss the seam as good luck, before you sew it, so it goes together! LOL

Jana's explanation sounds good to me. I call it locking the seams but kissing seams sounds good, too.
