Hot Bowl Tute ( hope this works)

Post by Caroline1947 » Mon Jan 02, 2012 6:01 am

I hope I got the pics in sequence,,,if not,I think you can decipher it!!
I use warm and natural batting as it can safely be put in the microwave

Step one,,,cut two 10 inch squares of main fabric
two 9 inch squares of batting
2 circles cut around a cd or dvd (this is just to add a bit more substance to bowl,,,cd helps you center it)
Rulers,,(if you dont have this ruler, make a mark one inch to each side of center and connect

Draw cross lines 5 inches from edges of fabric and center and draw circle

quilt as desired

Image

sew darts and trim to reduce bulk
Nest halves together and sew around leaving an opening to turn,,,

turn,,,poke out corners and top stitch ,closing opening...
YOU ARE DONE

Caroline, You are a genius. I love this idea. A bowl shaped pot holder is the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. And to be able to use it in microwave makes it doubly useful. No more burned fingers or spilling with a reg sq potholder.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. This will become my DH's best friend. He loves to eat in front of the tv in an easy chair when he is not feeling well. This will help with hot bowls of soup or hot cereal, or those cold bowls of ice cream. Love you lady. What a brilliant inspiration. I can see quilters all over the place whipping up some of these. Great gift idea anyone can use.

Hugs, love and God's blessings, Hope you feel better today. Thanks for a great tutorial. (This is much better than the candy dish one I saw.) Prayers for you today and always. Shirley Mae
