To make a strip quilt i.e. sewing the ends together can it be done by just sewing the ends together rather than mietering as in making a binding? What method do you use?

I am trying to understand your question - are these the strips for the quilt? or the binding?

I have sewn strips together to make the length I need for borders - both by sewing straight across and on the bias. I have found that the bias method that the seam disappears more that the straight sewn seam. This is when the fabric is the same print that I need to join.

If you are making a scrappy quilt - straight would be the best as the two pieces are not the same fabrics and then the bias seam would show more readily.

I didn't really care for the strips joined diagonally and thought they would look better with the ends just butted together and sewn. Try googling "strip quilt" images and you'll see a bunch of different ones, some made with jelly rolls and some made from scraps, and lots of them with the butted seams.

You don't have to miter the strips as you do when you put 2 bias strips together. Just plain old butting them right sides together is fine.
