I desided to use up the rest of my batting and was wondering how much would you piece together and know that the batting would stay intack? I had three good size pieces and four smaller ones and I sewed them all together with a zig zag stitch. Its the same loft and syle (brand). thank you for your help.

I do whatever works - so far none of the battings I have sewn together have come apart - they quilt up very nice - hand or machine.

I'm with Jana - never had a problem with them staying together especially after they've been quilted into something.

Gotta love being able to use them up!

I just finished one that the batting was pieced. Worked just fine.

Barb, I've pieced my batting lots of time with no problems.

I thank you for your advice, great way to use up the extras.

I just finished piecing together all my pieces of left over batting. My two cents would be to add these pieces of advice:

1. Be sure you are joining together the same types of batting
2. Overlap the edges of the pieces you plan to join about an inch, rotary cut down the middle of the inch, then you will have perfectly matched pieces to join side by side.
3. Just butt the edges together and zigzag with a loose stitch.

I use my joined batting for placemats, candlemats and smaller projects.
