Check out the lessons El has here on the home page - she does mitered corners as well as binding in several of them. It is not hard to do -just remember to leave about six to eight inches longer than your finished border is, for the mitered edges.
I do mine as follows : sew on each of the borders to with in 1/4 inch of the end of the quilt top. I mark this edge with a pencil dot so that I stop on it.
Then press the border strips out in place(seam toward the border strip) - they will cross at the corner at a 90 degree angle. One over the other - both have the right side of the fabric facing up as you are looking at it. Then I carefully fold the one on the top so that I have a perfect 45 degree angle - I use the line on my ruler to aid me. This will fold back and lay on the other piece of fabric - match them up. (Similar looking as if your are lining them up to sew a seam.) You should be able to see the miter now forming. As soon as I am happy with how it looks - I press the 45 degree fold with my iron. That becomes my line I use to sew on to join the miter. I line up the right sides of the border fabric and sew it together. Put the two pieces of the fabric together - just like you are strip piecing and sew on that fold line mark.
Trim off the excess after you have checked it and press the seam into place. You now have a completed miter. Repeat for the rest of the quilt. This method leaves a small place where there is no stitching in the corner - I hand blind stitch this closed.
I hope that this may help.
Jana
Fuss with it before you sew - until you are happy with it and then repeat this process for all four corners.

Here's a link to a tutorial that helped me a lot.
I'm not good at posting working links, but at least you'll have the site address. Hope it helps.

Hooray!!! Thank you for your video on binding. I watched it a dozen times and finally finished two quilts. Eleanor Burns is GREAT.
