When ready to cut fabric for sashing , how do I keep from having to join strips and making seams in a long strip to fit length 90 inches ? Should I buy 3 yds fabric , 45 in wide , and cut long strips without having to join seams ??

I always thought that you would just join the strips on the diaginal to make the size that you needed just a thought Tina

You can cut it long strips - or piece it - if the sashing is a busy print - no one will ever see the seam where you pieced it together. I have done this to save on cost! Press the seam open to reduce the bulk on the long strip - this also hides the piecing area.

Cornerstone blocks on the end of each row - all sides of the block also eliminate the need for the long strips.

Hope that it works for you

You could always use cornerstones, so you wouldn't need a piece 90" long. Using cornerstones also makes it easier for me to line up the squares.
