"Big Stitch Quilting" is a new term that describes quilting by hand, using a fairly large size thread - say perle cotton, or hand embroidery thread. 12 weight sulky cotton, or similar size threads are used. A longer needle is used than in traditional "rocker" style hand quilting. It somewhat mimics "Sashiko" style quilting...Stitches might be more like 1/8th of and inch long rather than the much tinier traditional hand quilting stitches. It''''s being used quite a bit in "Modern Quilting" designs.
