Donna--I haven't made this block in several years. My guild made it for a BOM, and I won the blocks. They were called "The Block from He--!" I think I won 15 or 16 blocks and every one of them was a different size! I had a hard time figuring out what to do to make the blocks uniform--finally added large triangles on all 4 sides and then trimmed them to one size. The quilt was custom quilted by a LAQ, and it was beautiful--if you didn't look too closely. LOL

Sorry I don't have any help for you. I'm sure you can use your 45 degree line on your ruler. Cut your strips the width of your template laying on its side. Try making a new template and use it with your ruler. GOOD LUCK!!!

Donna, I'm not familiar with that block, but when I have blocks that don't square up, I take 1 or 2 inch strips and sew them onto the block, them cut them all to the same size. Hope this helps!

Donna, I have not made this particular block, however when working with diamonds you have stretchy sides to deal with that affect the squaring because of stretching.

I find when my blocks come out wonky - and believe me, they do! - the two usual causes are the 1/4" seams not being truly 1/4" and pressing. I got a 1/4" foot and that has been invaluable! And I've learned to pay attention to my pressing technique - particularly on bias cuts. Also, the direction you press your seams can also make a difference. It's just practice, practice, practice. My fur-babies have so many practice blankies around the house, they think I'm their personal seamstress! Good luck! Mary Z
