Marking Stencils
I watched a program on machine quilting a while back that mentioned you could use something else besides the powder for marking you patterns onto your quilts. Anybody know about this or have any suggestions?

Re: Marking Stencils
One suggestion I heard about was corn starch or talc powder. I have never used either. El uses the wash away blue pen.
Good luck,

I have tried the pens and can not get them to work right. I'll try the corn starch. Thanks

I just started using Crayola WASHABLE markers. They work great and the marks wash right out. On dark fabric I use my pouncer with white chalk - I spritz my quilt top with water first because it makes the powder stick better.

I tried the corn starch and got way too much on. Talk about a mess.
I'll try the water and make a pounce bag. The crayolas sound like a good idea. I'll "borrow" the grandkids. ha ha.
Thanks for the great ideas.

I like my Blue wash away pencil. Works great! Cindyg, I am going to look for some of those Crayola washable markers you use.

1QN - just be sure you get the "washable" ones. I cringe when I think of using the regular ones by mistake.

I have been using Crayola Washable markers for a long time ...never had a problem.
