Need help please figuring

I decided to make my sister Robin a turning 20. She is going through such a terrible time right now. My blocks are going to end up about 11 1'2 each. So far I have enough fabric cut to make 24 blocks. How many should I make to make her a nice size lap quilt? It doesn't need to be as big as a twin and I will most likely put a border or two on it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

24 blocks would make a quilt 4 blocks by 6 blocks. Is that block size finished or unfinished?
11x4=44" by 11x6=66" that isn't a bad size. I have made a lot of lap quilts 45"-48" x 58"-60". If you want ti a little bigger add a border.

The finished block will be the 11 1/2" so I see what you are doing. If I go with 11" block and multiply by the number of blocks that will give me the measurement across and down. WHEW, would know!!! So if I did 4 or 5 blocks across I would do 5 or 7 down. Got it!!! Then some borders. Thank you so very much for making this so simple.

Chrissy, whew! I'm glad Kathy stepped in to do the math on your blocks!
If you want to add borders, it's a nice look to add several that get larger on each round. For example, first border is relatively narrow, to frame the blocks. Second border is wider, 3rd border wider still. Looks great and is a sneaky way of making a quilt a lot bigger, real fast!
