Tossed nine patch question
Hello, have a question aboit the pattern. Remember I'm a beginner so some of the cutting is hard for me to understand. I am using the fat quarters...it says cut fat quarters into 3 5x21" strips, is that just 1 fat quarter cause it says that you should layer fat quarters. Then it shows a picture of the fat quarter and then I should cut it all like the picture? I am totally confused. I understand what to do after cutting to a point but am stuck there. Olease help!! Thank you. Jan

Re: Tossed nine patch question
Jan, I don't have that particular pattern, but it looks like you'll have 5" blocks for the 9-patch. This pattern is like the Disappearing 9-Patch, isn't it? I'm working on a pink one right now and plan to applique white hearts on it.

Re: Tossed nine patch question
Hi Jan.... I used 5 inch charms for my tossed nine patch...
looks like you will cut your strips 5x21 from each fat quarter.... then you will stack your strips on top of each other and cut them into 5 inch squares.... so you will have 4 squares per strip times 3 strips that's 12 squares....... I didn't use the same fabric in one 9 patch, but may have had a couple of identical 9 patches....
hope this helps, cant wait to see a picture

Re: Tossed nine patch question
I did a search and one gal said 180 5" charms will end up at 50" X 62".
My current one is only 3 fabrics, but I couldn't tell you how much I've used. It was in my stash and I just pulled it out and started cutting. I made 12 blocks but started with 6" squares and my layout is different for this one. It's 48" X 64" so I may just put a narrow border on it. It's for my friend's birthday in June and I'm appliqueing hearts on it.
