els triangle square up ruler

Post by IowaGal » Wed Oct 22, 2008 10:59 am

I am using it for the first time. I followed the direction EXACTLY. I am also using her flying geese ruler. The half square triangles are ALL a smidge small. I can work with it, I am talking a 1/16, or less, but I can't understand what is happening. I did 2 or three and they were fine, and then 84 more, and these are almost all smaller than the geese. I checked them both and everything is measuring right on the rulers. I am just sick, I am going to have to fudge on 84 seams. I want to figure out what is wrong before I do twist two. This is on the twisted stars pattern. Any ideas on what else to check? Could it be possible that the lines are off on either the flying geese ruler or the square up ruler?

I too am using the HST square up for the first time and have not run into the problem. Have you measured the geese and hst with a ruler to see what the size actually turned out to be?

I use the square up ruler alot, but I dont follow the directions exactly. I press the square open before I square it up. I lay the line right on top of the stitching and sauare up the top, then turn the piece around, lay the line on the stitching again and square the other half. It may take a little longer doing it that way, but I get perfect squares.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
