Quilt in a Day Forums

Ok, I'm new here and just jumping in with a question. I'm working on a quilt that has prairie points for the edge. I've got them on, but now how do I finish the backing? Do I hand sew it like you would a binding to the back of the prairie points? Or can I machine sew it down? I'd rather do machine if possible, but will hand sew if that's what needs to be done.

I hand sewed mine to the prairie points.

I've made a lot of prairie points in my time and I do it several ways. If I'm going to "birth the quilt" and not use a binding, I put the points on right sides together to my quilt top, (flat side to the edge)and put that on top of the batting, then right sides together with my quilt top, on the top. In other words, layer
1. batting
2. quilt top, right side up
3. backing, right side down

Then I sew all the way around, leaving a "hole" so I can turn it inside out.

Then, if I had quilted the top already, then decided I wanted the points, I lay the flat side of the points on top of the quilt top, right sides together, lay the binding over the top edges of the points, stitch on, then flip the binding all the way to the backside, which makes the points stand out.
