Bonded Batting
I am about to start quilting on some table runners, table toppers, and place mats. I will be using bonded batting, not cotton, and I need/want to know if it would be best to preshrink it. If I need to preshrink it what would be the best way.
Thanks for all your help.

Re: Bonded Batting
This is just a guess, and I may be wrong, but I'd say that if it is 100% synthetic material it will not shrink. You say it isn't cotton, but if it is wool or hemp, or silk, or any other natural fibers I guess it is likely to shrink.

I would measure out a 4 or 5 inch square wash it dry it and see how it comes out then you will know how it will act in your quiltXXXOOO

I don't believe the bonded stuff shrinks. I've never prewashed it and never had any problem with it.

I've used bonded batting a couple of times on wall hangings. It's just polyester batting with a fusible web on one side.

It shouldn't need to be pre-washed if it is bonded. If it isn't cotton, it won't shrink.
