Carpenters Wheel and Flying Geese

In the book Underground Railroad Sampler, there is a block that is giving me fits. I'm not a seasoned quilter and I just cannot follow the directions. It really has me stumped. I have the One Star Center, and I do know how to make flying geese, I just cannot picture the whole thing together and am totally frustrated with that block.
Please help, any advise will be appreciated.

You don't have to picture it. Look at the picture on page56. The flying geese are on the outside corners. Hope this helps.

PattiBee, if you don't have the special flying geese rulers, you may want to consider getting a set...oh my gosh, they make making the geese MUCH easier, and they come out all the same size--! The instructions come with the ruler sets, but most of the Quilt In A Day books have the instructions in them as well.
Hang in there and keep sewing!

PattiBee, I hope you have figured out the instructions for the geese. Making 2 at a time sure speeds things up.

Oh, good! Hope you have a shop nearby that carries them. Be patient with yourself, read through the directions a couple times, and get some scrap fabric out to make a practice set or two. Follow the directions step by step without making any shortcuts...trust me on this one! (Yes, this was one of "those" lessons for me...painful but effective!)
Relax and have fun learning how to use your new toys! Keep us posted on your progress!

PattieBee, If you haven't looked at the video, here on this website, about how to use the Flying Geese rulers, be sure to do that!!
You find it by clicking on Television and Video in the bar near the very top of this page, then pick Flying Geese Ruler out of the choices under Online Video Demonstrations.
It's a big help to see Eleanor demonstrate and you'll get 4 perfect Flying Geese each time! (I just made 320 flying geese patches for the Wild Goose Chase quilt using this method!);

Hi all,
Got the flying geese done. Thank you for your advise and support. You guys are the greatest. My quilt blocks are looking good. I am usually not diciplined enough to follow directions and go off in my own direction. But, this is one project that I truly love and want to see completed properly. The Underground Railroad sampler quilt just called me to make it. I'm having fun doing it and am taking longer than "a day" to make my quilt but I am having fun doing it.
Thanks again for all your help.
