Re: Quilter Health
Maryq I too am a smoker so I get quite a few breaks from the machine to head outside to the verandah for a quick ciggie. I cut at the kitchen bench, sew at the dining table and iron in the spare bedroom.
I've spent all morning baking jam drops and cornflake biscuits as our son is coming tomorrow to help do some yard work and I need to keep him fueled up.Will hopefully get a few hours at the sewing machine this arvo. Will definitly get a lot of exercise tomorrow.
I just figured out that here it is 4th July just after 2pm in the afternoon so I'm about 17 hours ahead of most of you in the exercise dept. Does that mean I can kick back for the rest of the day and wait for you all to cath up?!?!?!

alright girls, enough about Dairy Queen. The closest one to me is 25 minutes away, and then we usually have to wait in line. But, there's one only 5 minutes away from work so maybe I'll have to DQit for my lunch? After all, I'll be getting two of the major food groups......ice cream & Chocolate!! That's right, isn't it?

kadie,
Your cornflake biscuits sound good! Hope your son did a good job on
your yard. Is it wintertime in your country now? I heard we are
opposites with our weather and I wanted to know if that is true!
I'm up in the mountains in Calif. at 3100 elevation and it is 104' right now. Hoping no one shoots any fireworks off tonite to celebrate the holiday. It's so hot we have a rescued mama cat
who had kittens in the woods 4 weeks ago. She finally brought them
into my husbands cool workshop this afternoon, she couldn't stand the
heat either!! We've been waiting for her to present them to us!

I just checked the temp here and it's 15'Centigrade which hubby converted for me to about 59F.We live on the north west plains of New South Wales.Perfectly flat and with temps around 45-48C (113F)in summer .Mostly cropping and cotton growing area.We are on a flood plain but haven't been flooded in about 5 years. The whole country has been in drought which seems to have broken in the last month or so thank goodness
We rescued a tiny ginger kitten about 8 weeks ago.He just appeared from no where.I think he was only about 5 weeks as he could only just lap milk. Our son was here the day the little fella turned up and because this little orange feral had a bit of an attitude he named him "Punk".As for the biscuits what he didn't eat here he took home with him.Left a couple for his Dad thenkfully or else I'd be cooking again today
So yeah we are on totally opposite sides of the world but quilting brings everyone together on here no matter where we live and it's great

kadie,
I chuckled when you told me about your kitty Punk! I love that name!
It would fit the attitude of two of the three kittens we have.
These little fluffballs fit in the palm of my hand right now.
I had my hubby come in the house and read your comment about your
weather and what the land is like. I've been telling him how wonderful this web site is, getting to know quilters and their lifestyle from all over the world.
Glad your drought has stopped! We live on well water and a rainy
season is so important. Tomorrow the weatherman said it will start to
cool down. Hope so, I do believe I have lost a couple of pounds, it
has been too hot to eat!!

My hubby wants to know why I keep wanting conversions done of temp and fuel. Told him about this forum and he was quite thrilled that I had actually worked out for myself how to find it and how to "talk" on it as I'm pretty ordinary when it comes to computers
Was cutting fabric yesterday for borders on a small log cabin and Punk officially became a quilting kitty when he started swinging off the end of the fabric hanging down off the bench.

kadie,
How old do you think Punk is? That is a cute story of him swinging off your material. Boy are their little claws razor sharp. Our kittens just learned how to wrestle today. And they are going at it big time. Mama cat is so loving to them, and so sweet to us when we
pick them up. Trying to get the kittens interested in food.

We figure Punk is about 12-13 weeks now and qrowing like a weed.He still has the attitude but likes smooches and snuggles now when HE is in the mood.
