Well I just got my Hinterberg hand quilting frame from my sister last weekend. I haven't used it yet, but it is a beautiful piece. I can't wait to get something on it. I also bought her Janome Serger machine. Now I just need the time to play with everything.

I am really liking this hand quilting. It is still not too good but I am practicing still.

Speaking about thimbles, I have been using my grandmother's silver thimble for years--and I mean years! It is slightly bent to an oval from use and fits my small finger perfectly. And it is a way to stay close to her. I have never found one that fits better and I am terrified of losing this one. But that doesn't keep me from using it for everything.

Brenda, I am so glad that you are keeping at the hand quilting!
My stitches still are not perfect nor real tiny but they DO get better with lots of practice! How did you like the quilt frame you got?

I haven't tried my Hinterberg frame yet. It really is a nice one though. My sister is going to come over and help me get started on it. I have a PVC square floor frame I am using at this time. I got it at Joanns the other week at 1/2 price so I could pass it up.
I am still having a problem trying to find a good thimble that I am comfortable with. One of the hand quilting books I am using suggests to just wear them during the day until they feel like an extension of your finger. I may try that tomorrow with my leather thimble. I need to get to the point where it does not bother me.

I am wearing my thimble all day at work pretty much. the book I am reading says to do this until the thimble feels like an extension of your finger LOL. It is a leather thimble atleast so it stays on pretty well.

Hi All, I have a thimble from Roxanne and it is wonderful. It was a little pricey but I have long fingernails and it has an open back. And besides that it is beautiful. They have different sizes and should actually fit rather tight at first. The idea being that metal will expand when it gets the warmth of your finger in it and if it's not tight enough it will slip around on your finger. They have a wonderful dvd out about hand quilting and how most people do not sit right and therefore make it harder. A lot has to do with your material as to how tiny your stitches are. Well worth the money. Jan in Punxsy
