Hmm, I don't spend any time at all cutting the pieces to sew. I just whack off a piece of fabric and sew it on the line, trim and done. The paper makes the difference of how hard it is to remove from the stitching. For complicated small pieced paper piecing blocks I use the water soluble paper. One spray of water and it's gone.

Sewbug, yeah, that's what I do to, just whack off a piece and sew it on. But, having to do it one by one, rather than cutting out a lot of equal pieces with a rotary cutter and then chain sew them, is what I find so time consuming...:-) I guess I just don't have the patience for this...

The reason I want to learn paper piecing is to do patternsn like a star burst and have my points all come out perfect and not have to worry with a bunch of bias cut triangles or such. I just don't think there's any way I'd paper piece a Rail Fence or Log Cabin because they are so easy and fast to do the strip piecing method. But you now what they say - to each his own. Whatever makes you happy.
