I bought Better Homes and Gardens teach yourself to machine applique on a whim when I happened to see it at wal-mart. It is pretty easy and gives several methods so you can figure out which you like best. Personally, I prefer the fusable. One tip for using a blanket stitch, or satin stitch. when you need to turn the material, always have the needle position the same direction as you ar turning the fabric. You won't get a jumpy look. So if you are sewing on a curve, and you need the bottom to turn to the left, make sure your needle is down on the left. I always hated applique until I got this, and now I do it a lot!
