free motion quilting on flower garden

I have basket quilt in progress. One block has flower garden blossoms. Do I need to quilt both sides of seam around each "petal"?I used a fancy machine stitch around each basket square, then free motion inside the square on that design. (20 blocks)Poly batting, Muslin back.

You don't say how big your blossoms are but I like to make sure there is quilting no further apart than 3" on my quilts. Secondly, does the quiting accent the look you are going for? If so, do it. If it doesn't, and there's no practical reason to quilt then I'd say skip it. A picture would be helpful.
