A tip if you like.....

Post by Stargatefan » Wed Mar 10, 2010 6:00 am

Today while I was working on a couple of BOMs, I discovered a tip for myself and thought I would share it. If someone has already come up with this. I apologize but it was inspiration for me and I wondered how I ever did without it! ;-)
With El's pattern (BOM we're doing with her free patterns), if I'm not ready to do any sewing, I pin the cutout blocks and material to the instructions. That way, everything will be kept together and sitting on my sewing table. I'm also joining a couple of other ladies doing a BOM from a magazine. I do the same thing - cut out the blocks and then pin them to the magazine page.
I used to lose pieces a lot and baggies kept slipping off tables or behind counters.
Hope someone finds this useful.

I use this idea... I also use it when I cut out a lot of blocks and don't want to mix up my colors... I will have piles of pinned fabric.. it really came in handy when I was making the stars for the Orions star quilt and had to set it aside to do other projects.. when I got back to the stars there was no thinking involved because each block was pinned and ready to go.

when I cut a project out or have collected fabrics for a specific pattern I put it in clear project boxes and always scan a picture from the pattern and tape it to the inside top of the box and label the side. It is easy to add fabric to and then as I do the blocks they go back into the box. I love it I can just pick up a box and I am ready to sew
