Thread breaking constantly
I am having a problem with my thread breaking constantly while trying to quilt this particular project. I am using a 90/14 needle and cotton thread- both of which I have used on other projects. I even tried switching to a new needle.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

check under the bobbin, i was having problems like that once and when i raised the bobbin case i had enough lint under there to make a pin cushion, i had already changed thread, needle etc so thought of that. after it was cleaned up it worked just fine

Other ideas to check are:
Adjust your top and/or bobbin tension
Change to a different brand or type of thread
I wrote up a trouble-shooting list of problems and possible solutions and I have it thumbtacked to the wall right next to my quilting machine for quick reference. And boy, do I use it! Saves me lots of time thumbing through the manual.
Good luck,

same idea as grannyquilts1. That pesky bobbin can give you lots of trouble. Also take off the throat plate and clean the feed dogs lint builds up in there and double check the bobbin as tiny pieces of thread hide. My Janome (which I love) doesn't like much lint at all in the bobbin or feed dogs, it just quits sewing or the thread breaks or bunches up and I have to clean it. We should really clean that out after every few hours of sewing or at least a project.

Re: Thread breaking constantly
I had this problem just the other day. I called my quilting lady at the place I bought the Janome and she said some of the same as you guys have suggested and low and behold it works like a dream and I am even free motioning better.
* Change to a new needle
* Put thread in freezer for 1/2 hour (strengthens the thread)
* While the thread was in the freezer I pulled of the plate and cleaned out all the lint (Oh the joy of the desert and the thread. It is amazing how much lint and dust piles into my room)
* I even had DH use the canned air on it. Looks brand new except for all the scratches.
That is what I did. Hope you got yours up and running long before now and you have many quilts laying beautifully around.
