Only me - binding questions
I was so proud, showing hubby the quilt for my sister. Okay talking with hubby and sewing on the binding. Dang, sewed it to the back side of the quilt first. If I hadn't had so much done when I realized, I would have torn it all out. So here is my delima, do I hand stitch it to the front? If I do should I use invisible thread? If I do use invisible thread should I hand or machine sew it on, and if I and sew what would be the best kind of thread to use. I know that I will have to use a lot of patience to make it look good whichever way I choose, but could really use some advise from those with experience (meaning more experience than me of course, which I don't have much) thanks and have a wonderful and safe friday

Chrissy, I would just do it the same way that you normally would...instead of hand sewing it to the back, hand sew it to the front, just being a little more careful to hide your stitches.

Chrissy, I'd just keep stitching it to the front. Sometimes I do it that way on purpose. I normally hand stitch my binding down and make it as neat as I can whether it is the front or the back. I'm anal, can you tell?

You can hand stitch it down, just like you would on the back side. I think hand stitching with invisible thread would drive me nuts! LOL Try regular thread that blends with the binding if you don't want to use the invisible...
Like CindyG, I'm anal about bindings. Wish some of that would spill over into other aspects of my life, I'd get a lot more done!

I have started using silk thread (YLI) to hand stitch my bindings down. It's like sewing thru butter. I hope it holds up. It seems pretty strong.

Binding is done, label on and our grandson took it my sister today as he is working at her house with my brother in law. SHE LOVES IT. It came out wonderful even with the binding on the wrong way first. Carol, thank you so much. Thanks for all the advise and helpful hints. Now if I can learn to applique I will be a really happy camper
