Applique Stitch???

Post by SewSassyNClassy » Wed Feb 13, 2008 3:24 am

What machine stitch is good for appliqueing? I have a Bernina Aurora 440.
Thanks!!

I went with the blind stitch! I don't know why the instruction book didn't say it was a good stitch for applique!

I think it depends on the look you want

Most of the time El uses the blind hem stitch
if you want a more old fashion look you can use a blanket stitch
if you you want to make sure it doesn't go anyplace you can use a satin stitch.

With me it depends on the size of the applique pieces. For larger pieces I really like the feather stitch on my machine. It's pretty and looks kind of old fashioned. But if the quilt I'm working has lots of small pieces,I'll use a small blanket stitch.

With your Bernina Aurora 440 you have a bazillion gorgeous stitches to chose from. That's a TOP OF THE LINE MACHINE that I can only dream of having ... so just play around with your stitches on some scaps and see what you like.
