9 patch flannel
I keep getting myself confussed. I want to make a 12.5" block made of solid and 9 patches. How large do I cut the 9 patches for strips? And for the look, do I make light plaid/plain and dark plaid/plain to make up the 12.5 block. Hope I have explained this. See why I'm messed up.
Thanks for your help.

Look at Quilterscache:
http://www.quilterscache.com/N/NinePatc ... Block.html
It's 12 inch finished, 12 1/2 inch unfinished. Read the instructions. If you have any more questions, come back here and ask them.
Good Luck!

Re: 9 patch flannel
I made a patch from quilter's cache that said it was a 12 inch block and it was just that.....not 12 1/2 unfinished. My seams were scant 1/4 inch. You may want to make a sample block and see if it is 12 1/2 unfinished.

Re: 9 patch flannel
For a 12" finished size block, you would cut the strips at 4 1/2" if you use the standard 1/4" seam allowances. I know some people use more for flannel, I haven't used flannel yet myself. Basically, each square in a 12" finished size 9 patch finishes at 4", so just add whatever seam allowance you use to that. Hope I explained this well enough, I'm not very good at explaining stuff like this.
