Quilt Top Too Small?
I'm getting back into quilting after several years and wanted to make a quick quilt for my grandaughter. I bought some beautiful "cheater" block fabric. However, as I pinned the top, back and batting together, I realized that the cheater boarders run almost from selvage to selvage and there's no way I a regular binding will fit around it! What do you suggest? Thanks for your help!

How about putting a border around it. Maybe a solid (like Kona cotton) that matches one of the colors in the cheater cloth. Hobby Lobby and Hancocks has Kona cotton and it comes in a lot of colors. I took a piece of fabric with me the last time I was there to match the fabric up. Kona costs a little bit more than muslin, but a lot less than regular quilters cotton. Regular price at Hobby Lobby is $4 a yard. Sometimes you can catch it on sale for $3 a yard.

Oh, forgot to add, just do a 2 1/2 inch border then why not use the same fabric to make your binding out of. It will look intentional then.
There are some neat tricks with binding, if you want, we can point you to some online instructions for making binding with mitered corners.

Just cut your binding 2.5" instead of 2.25" or cut it 3" or what ever will work, take a larger seam allowance to cover the selvege. Amie
