Thanks Evie, I did use Wonder Under, since that was what everyone else was planning on using at the guild. I also just used my button hole stitch. I think it turned out pretty good to be starting out. I think I will keep practicing though. I think we are actually starting the BOM in September, so that should give me plenty of time to prepare. Thanks again for posting your photo, it really helped just looking at it to see the stitching and things.

I love your snowman block it is so cute. Evie I also love your flower basket block and the idea of cutting out more flowers and puting them on top is really great.

LynnS - there's no such thing as a dumb question. I use coffee filters instead of purchasing tear-away stabilizer. You just lay it underneath the piece you will be appliqueing. I just adds support and keeps your fabric from bunching up. When you are thru appliqueing you just tear it off the back. It's so much less expensive than buying the tear-away stabilizer.

Your snowman is adorable. Turning the corners with machine applique just takes practice. Keep it up!

Thanks for all of the nice comments on my snowman. I have the pieces for a few more blocks ironed on to the Wonder Under, I just need to cut them out and iron them on my block. I plan to keep practicing until we start our BOM. Right now, I'm not getting much sewing done, with all of the school shopping...
