You will cut the strips WOF and then subcut them to the size it says. At that point you will cut off the selvages - you do not want to use them in the quilt, as they don't have the same 'ease' as the rest of the fabric. (I know a lady who saves all her selvages and begs for others! She makes strip quilts out of them. Kind of like rag quilts, except they don't fray!!)

TC - Welcome!

When I first started doing the geese blocks, I didn't have the ruler... you will be totally amazed at how much easier the rulers make it!!!! You could probably do a quilt top in a day with those rulers.

Whew! I'm glad you got that under control, CindyB - sounded like you were going to have a collapse there for a minute!

With everyone's help, I started cutting out blocks about an hour ago! I have all my light colored blocks completed. I'm excited to try the flying geese rulers when they arrive.

Oh, my, yes, Gramma Ann!!! My heart started going faster and faster!

TC - welcome, sorry I ignored you in the rush to order that pattern!!!

In all reality, I had seriously, seriously thought about getting that pattern when I ordered, but passed it by (yeah, I know - I really didn't, did I??) Actually, I got side-tracked by work!

TC, it will make a HUGE difference!!

Here's a video for the Northern Star Quilt. You have to be a member, but it's free:
