El's Comfort Quilt-Blocks Due Sept. 26, 2015
Posted: Sun Sep 13, 2015 5:36 am
Ladies as you already know we are making a comfort quilt for El. We will be using the Autograph Block (a.k.a. Cracker Box)pattern. Instructions for the block can be found on this website under Free Patterns or on pages 172 and 173 of El's book Still Stripping After 25 Years. If using the book please use block A only.
Please put a minimum of your name and forum name. If you have room also include city and state and a brief message if you like.
Block size is 8" finished so please make your block 8 1/2" or slightly oversized for squaring up. Just so you know the unfinished block will finish between 9" and 9 1/4". Please DO NOT square it up. I will square them all up to the same size when I receive them.
Fabric Colors - Your choice
The pattern calls for muslin to be used for the signature strip and 2 corners. You do not have to use muslin. You may use any white, light cream, solid or TOT that is appropriate for the block design/signature.
Note: Per Maryz--Signing will be easier if you iron freezer paper on the back before signing. Use a pigma permanent ink pen to sign and set the signature by pressing with a hot iron. (Thank you Maryz)
The Lap quilt calls for 40 blocks, so any blocks over the 40 will be used on the back of the quilt.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could include $2 to $3 to assist Judi and me with shipping costs and any additional materials that would be needed to complete the quilt. If there are any funds sent over the necessary cost, those funds will be forwarded to Tina/gershwin64 for the cancer quilt fund.
Please have your blocks to me by 9/26/15 for assembly. Please pm me for my address if you do not already have it.
Thank you all in advance for your participation and any assistance you have been able to provide.
God bless each of you.
